Lucas Is Pissed Off (2 of 2)

This rant is about two and they kind of overlap. Youtube and the hate towards noise music.
I was looking at videos of some local noise musicians, and not so local musicians (Wolf Eyes, Lightning Bolt, etc.) I was getting to angry at the comments. I know, inflammatory comments on Youtube? Never!

Anyways, a lot of the commenters were spouting their views on how noise music isn't an art form. It astounds me that people think that noise musicians have no knowledge of instruments and electronics. That makes no sense! You cannot generalize a whole genre like that. I can't say, all metal is all just power chords and stupidly fast solos. I can't say that all electronic music is for ravers and made solely to trip people out on Ecstasy! I wish these people would get their heads out of their asses and actually listen. Download an album by Merzbow or Black Dice. You will hear layering, composition, and beautiful (frightening?) use of atonality that cannot be found in other musical genres.

Now, I do know that there are a ton of crappy noise bands, but guess what? There are a ton of crappy artists and bands for every genre! I would just like people to lay off noise music, if you don't get it, that's fine. Just don't call it a waste of time.

Maybe it has to do with the whole mindset of Youtube. No one here knows me so I can say stuff and piss people off. Maybe people are just frightened by something they don't truly understand. Don't worry, we don't bite...we'll just melt your lungs with our diabolical sound machines.

Lucas Is Pissed Off (1 of 2)

Okay, these two rants are not connected, but they are important! This one has to do with the bill (C1-10) that is currently being processed in Canada. Satan...er...Stephen Harper decided that he thinks some Canadian films should not get the tax credits that they do get. If C1-10 passes then if the government does not like the film, they can take away the tax credit. That fucking sucks, guys.

1) So people who make films that are violent or sexual might not get the tax credit. Does that mean films with sex and violence are not legitimate? WELL I GUESS SO! I'm glad to know that Canadian are going to protected by the Conservative government from all those nasty things out there. Out of sight out of mind I guess. Watch out, someone might talk about left-wing ideas! Uh oh, our teens might see people having sex! It could turn them into sex fiends! All the children could become murderers!

2) The filmmakers will find out that they don't have the tax credit after the film is done. These people will spend all that money and then find out that they are screwed for life with all that debt. Thanks Stephen Harper, always the friend to the art community!

If this Bill is passed, it will mean that a closed minded government will be deciding whether we get money help or not. Ideas will be suppressed and good filmmakers may never get a chance to produce the art they truly want to make. Wow...should I start doing stretches for all that goose stepping now, or later?

FuN FaCt FrIdAy

When passing individual atoms through 2 slits with a detector recording which slit the atom goes through, the resulting interference pattern is particle-like, two bright bands on the screen behind the slits. However, if the detector is turned off, the interference pattern resembles a wave-like model, with many brighter bands along the screen (representing the constructive and destructive interference), as if the atom knows whether the detector is present or not.
