An Introduction of sorts

Hello Tricowinc readers. I am not exactly sure who reads this blog or who knows me so before I wrote a post about the story that Matt is referring to, about the movies last night, I thought that I'd introduce my self for those who do not know me or know little about me.

My name is Isaac Springall and i guess my friends now call me The iSack. I am fairly new to the Tricowinc family. I moved to town last year and around the end of summer '07 I started hanging out with the guys running this blog and our group expanded and the rest is history. I have enjoyed hanging out with this group of people and our interests are very much the same allowing us all to bounce jokes, stories and references off of each other easily. You may or may not have noticed that I have been on the contributors list for a while now but had never yet posted. This was purely due to laziness one of my biggest personality traits. The last few postings, starting with Matt's long post about his weekend and the ford plant and such, have made Reggie and I want to post, ourselves. So finally I had something good to write about (the story about last night) but then thought hmm maybe I should introduce myself before I just go ahead and surprise whomever with a story from this dickhead Isaac that you know nothing about.

I feel I really haven't accomplished a good intro here. I haven't told you anything about myself so this post almost seems redundant. But honestly, I just went through all the archives, ALL of them and redundancy has not stopped others in the past from posting. So on that note, I think I will end this post and perhaps in future posts of mine you will learn more about me and what kind of person I am. Hell, you may even meet me before those posts and we may become good friends! (doubt it) WHO KNOWS?

A Night To Remember

Last night was about two things, seeing Jumper and having multiple WTF moments one after another until we could take no more and quickly sped away in our cars. I'm getting ahead of myself but it is hard to keep focus after thinking about how effed our night was.

Last night, Sunday, February 17th, we attended the 9:50pm showing of Jumper at the Brantford Cineplex Odeon. When I say we, I mean Matt, Lucas, Aric, Rob and Kingpin and myself. A smaller group than we usually take to the movies but a good group nonetheless. The topic of reviewing the movie Jumper is another post altogether, perhaps one that Matt or Lucas could write, so I will move on to the better/weirder half of the night. Usually after we see a movie as a group we like to discuss the movie fairly in depth and Jumper was no exception. After staying in the theatre discussing it for all of the credits we finally decided to leave and go out to the mall area, where we would continue to discuss it.

We did just that. We continued the discussion and laughed about various parts, the sort of stuff you do after seeing a movie with your friends. This was going on for about 7 or 8 minutes when I noticed a group of younger kids in a group, a ways over, directly in front of me. Since we were standing sort of in a circle this group of younger kids were right in front of my but were behind some of the others. I was watching them from a distance as they seemed to be sort of acting like general ass hats. I'm not sure if their original group consisted of girls and guys but the main point of this story is the girls. For reasons that we are still trying to figure out these girls seemed to be overly interested in us for some reason. To clarify these girls were, we guessed, around 14 years old and we wanted nothing to do with them. Their first odd public behaviour was to come over to our circle and take photos of us with their cell phones as they casually walked by. I watched as they continued past us and were taking photos of everyone in the mall so we really weren't that concerned about them. At this point another odd sight caught our eyes as we saw a full grown man riding one of the coin operated rides, an elephant if I'm not mistaken. While distracted watching that we did not notice that the girls were now circling around back to us again and this time they took it another step further.

This time as they got to our group they actually squeezed their way into our circle so that we were now surrounding them. As soon as they entered, I thought "oh okay so this is going to continue, well then let's just have some fun with them and not give them what they want, which is to make people uncomfortable." I, then, promptly asked "hey what movie did you guys see?" They answered "Step Up" as we pretended to be interested in their answer. I said "ooh Step Up eh? how was that?" They answered "oh it was sexy." As I turned to Matt I said, "oh yeah from the looks of that fantastic poster I would hope it's sexy." Matt agreed. Very stupid banter went on like this for a few minutes. Matt and I were enjoying this exchange the most because we thought it was very funny. Others did not think it to be as humourous and wanted to leave for the cars. As Lucas, Rob, and Aric left to go outside Kingpin, Matt and I stayed behind because I knew that if you drew attention to the fact that they were annoying you that they would continue to do it. So as those three left we just stayed behind and laughed at them as they were further harassed by these little girls. After standing inside for a few moments and getting text messages from Aric and Rob to tell us to come outside, we made our way outside.

But the story does not end there! We continued out discussion of the movie outside in the drizzling rain and our discussion was now more focused on what had just happened inside. We couldn't understand what was going on. Eventually I noticed two of the four girls come outside and get into a van that was sitting idle at the doors. They drove off never to be seen again. But there were still two left. And after leaving us alone for a while, the remaining two girls made their way outside and proceeded to converse yet again. They would just not give up on whatever mission they were on. They continued to do things like take our pictures and video on their cell phones as if they had just discovered this technology and were on their first day of trying out every single feature on their phones. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to send those pics and vids to each other to see if that function on their phones worked as well. Anyways, did I mention that they seemed to like Kingpin the most. He was getting the most pictures taken, and not to mention he was loving every second of it. Among some of the funniest things they asked us was the question of our sobriety. They asked, "are you guys drunk?" We, of course, said yes and played along. Our laughter and general behaviour also gave off the effect of being drunk so I think they may have believed it at first. At this point, I just hear Lucas spouting something about going to get high on crack and as soon as I heard that I could not help but lose it and start laughing crazy hard. After this continued for what we figured was long enough we all agreed to start our walks over to the cars where we would then leave to go to my house.

But, believe it or not, the story does not end there either! As we walked to the cars laughing in disbelief, Kingpin turns around to look at us and says, "ah hey guys they are kind of following us." I turned around to see the remaining two girls walking after us and just thought "holy shit what do you want? piss off." After thinking that thought for about two seconds, I thought, "lets have some more fun." So I started to book it to the car and yelled at the rest of the guys to hurry up and get in. I quickly opened my door with my key, threw my body into the driver's seat. As I got in, I realized that I had to open all three passenger doors from the inside. So I quickly opened the passenger side door for Matt, reached back to the passenger side back seat door for Aric and then for whatever reason the closest lock to me I could not reach. The driver's side back seat door was posing to be quite tricky to reach and I gave up on it. The thought of leaving Lucas behind crossed our minds but Aric sprung into action and, after some trouble with the lock, he flipped the lock open and Lucas jumped into the car. Right as I heard that last door close, I started the car, threw it into D and sped off through the empty parking lot not caring anything about who I may have just run over with my back tires. All this commotion we were caught up in, I had completely forgotten about Rob and Kingpin. As we were speeding away through the empty parking lot, someone posed the idea to turn around. Realizing that we were in a big car now and that they would no longer mess with us I agreed to this idea and did a sharp U-turn to the left. As I approached Kingpin's car, I saw the two girls in front of the car along with a Wal-Mart shopping cart. I later found out that they had pushed the cart in front of his car to blockade him from leaving. While speeding toward the girls in front of the car I was flashing my lights on and off as to scare them off. When I got close enough for them to feel threatened they finally ran away off to Wal-Mart.

This is the end of the story. I may have missed some more interesting facts that Lucas and Matt can fill in but this is what happened. It was very fucked up and we still cannot wrap our brains around what it exactly was. We have narrowed it down to asking What The Fuck? WTF were those girls thinking? Were they inebriated, or just stupid and over-confident? On the car ride home and when we got to my house, movie discussion was so far from our brains. We could not even remember what had happened in... what was the movie?... Jumper. All the events of the movie were overshadowed by the ridiculousness of what had happened post-movie. We all just discussed our different perspectives and what exactly had happened. It was a great night, I thought, very funny and humour is all I ever want out of a night. We got a great story out of it that will be fun to tell over and over. We now leave you with this question. WTF is wrong with kids these days?

Response and rant!

Hello friends, another post (this is a RECORD!! OVER NINE THOU- never mind) comin your way

one guy does XKCD his name is Randall i believe

anyways, as many of my friends know, I have been craving Jalapeno & Cheddar Doritos for the past 5 days or so. Here they are:

So yeah, they're delicious and I want them. So last night after work, I perused the store shelves for the tasty snack thats sure to come back, and I instead found ZILCH. They had all the other novelty flavours, like tandoori sizzler (who buys that???) and chile cheese lime crap weird flavour. I was disappointed.

Today, I decided to try my luck downtown at Pharma Plus. I traversed through the ravaging blizzard, only to find EVEN LESS SELECTION.

"Argh!" sputtered Matt. Our handsome hero thrusted out the front door, and decided to stop in at United Discount. Alas, they had standard doritos and other various chips, but no J&C. Matt crossed the bridge and stepped into Wendy's (not restaurant, convenience store). They had nothing either. Matt was frustrated and angry, so he went back to Pharma Plus, bought 2 bags of other Doritos, and pizza pops.

ALL IN ALL, I hope they havent cancelled it! The end to an unsatisfying post. Also, get Isaac to post about what happened at the movies last night cause he said he would post today and i dont think he is going to post and that makes me saaaaaaaaaad

Meandering Thoughts About Stuff

Pre-post Note: Matt's post has somehow gotten me interested in blogging again!

So, this morning was listening to Sloan. I was wondering what album a song was on so I went to Wikipedia.org. Anyways, I typed in "Sloan", or at least I thought I did. I was soon to see a page on "loan". For some reason the word didn't click into my brain, so I sat wondering what the page was going to come up with. It was weird. i was disapointed when I found out that it was merely "loan".
Bleh.
Moving on. I've been considering doing more home recordings of noise. Just noise. I mean, I like normal song structures. The band I'm in uses conventional song structures, and it's awesome. Yet, for some I reason noise and experimental music makes bigger emotional impacts on me. Endless Happiness by Black Dice and Infant Dressing Table by Animal Collective have both become big inspirations of mine. It seems that both those songs delve into feelings and emotions that conventional music can't touch. I'm not saying that conventional music can't be emotional, but there is something more primal about noise music.
Last thing. I want to see Primer again. I think we should watch it. Time-travel is nuts. I would imagine that the guys who does XKCD would love it.
